Broadway Opening Marks Raising Cane’s 6th San Antonio Location Thursday
Chicken fingers restaurant near Fort Sam Houston to celebrate grand opening Thursday
The chicken fingers invasion of San Antonio continues, but the men and women of Fort Sam Houston aren’t putting up a fight. In fact, they’re eagerly anticipating the arrival of the area’s newest Raising Cane’s Chicken Fingers restaurant just minutes away.
The Louisiana-based chain known for its ONE LOVE — quality chicken finger meals – is set to open its sixth local restaurant, at 8402 Broadway St. (inside the Loop on Broadway and 410), on Thursday. It will be the 51st Cane’s in the Lone Star State.
Robert Dunn, General Manager of the nation’s 169th Raising Cane’s location, has lived in San Antonio nearly his entire life. His father chose to stay in the area after retiring from a 30-year career in the Army.
“I grew up right here as an Army brat so I know the area like the back of my hand,” said Dunn. “I’m really excited about introducing my friends and neighbors to our ONE LOVE, which has already caught fire all across San Antonio. I have a feeling we’re going to be very busy given our proximity to the airport, North Star Mall and Fort Sam.”
Raising Cane’s is in the midst of a rapid expansion across Texas and the nation. The company is a recognized industry leader in customer service and is distinguished by its generous support of the communities it serves.
On Nov. 1, Dunn and his crew members volunteered at the Animal Defense League of Texas, walking, feeding and playing with the dogs. The restaurant will also be raising donations for the no-kill shelter at a pre-opening event on Nov. 5.
Last month, Raising Cane’s sponsored San Antonio’s Walk Like MADD 5K, and Dunn brought Cane’s always-popular lemonade stand to Time Warner Park to provide complimentary refreshments to softball and volleyball league participants and spectators. Raising Cane’s is an official sponsor of Time Warner Park.
“When we say we are committed to serving our local communities, we truly mean it,” said Dunn. “We look forward to hosting active San Antonians from around the city at Time Warner Park after league play wraps up, and you can bet I’ll be reaching out to the military families at Fort Sam to support their activities as well.”
A grand opening ribbon-cutting ceremony will be conducted at the restaurant at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, in conjunction with the Greater San Antonio Chamber of Commerce. First-time visitors to the ceremonies are in for a treat, as 45-50 newly hired crew members will be performing their traditional cheers and other high-energy chants tolaunch the new location in unique Cane’s fashion.
The restaurant will officially open to the public at 10 a.m.. The first 100 paying, dine-in customers will receive a commemorative San Antonio Cane’s T-shirt, along with a voucher for a free Box Combo – containing four fresh, never ever frozen chicken fingers, Texas toast, secret recipe Cane’s sauce, coleslaw, crinkle-cut fries and a drink – that may be redeemed on a subsequent visit.
Between Nov. 7-14, customers of the nation’s newest Raising Cane’s will also be invited to participate in the company’s “Give Back Giveaway” tradition, in which one customer will win a $1,000 donation to his or her local charity of choice, along with Free Cane’s for a Year.
In February, Raising Cane’s earned the distinction of No. 1 Quick Service Restaurant Chain in the Nation for 2012, according to the authoritative Sandelman & Associates Quick-Track study. In addition to scoring top overall honors, Cane’s earned six additional first-place awards. More than 63 percent of Raising Cane’s customers rated their most recent visit “excellent” overall (rating of 5 on a 5-point scale).
